Summary : For the Dreamcast's final days of 2002, Ubi Soft and BigBen have taken the time to release the last few games for Sega's ill-fated powerhouse, one of which is the unique Freestyle Scooter. In a strange turn of events, Norton, a giant robot, has apparently kidnapped the other members of the Freestyle Scooter crew, and as a fellow member, you are charged with tracking them down and freeing them from the clutches of evil. In a nutshell, Freestyle Scooter is an extreme sports game, similar to the Tony Hawk series, but with a scooter and a story to back it up. Why? We don't know, but it's strangely appealing. Once you get into the game proper, you have just one available course to scoot around, and only two players, one male and one female, to control. The idea in each level is simply to score as many points as possible within the given time limit. Scores can be accumulated by executing well-timed tricks and landing them safely. But if you want to maximise your efforts, you must use the environment's rails and half-pipes to combine your tricks, which can result in much higher scores. If your scores meet the level's criteria, a new area will become available; there are nine courses in total. Various collectibles placed in hard-to-reach spots in each area give players extra incentive to become a scooter master. Sound familiar, Pro Skater fans? Complete with a buzzing soundtrack, dozens of tricks and plenty of hidden extras, Freestyle Scooter is just good old-fashioned fun.
